Minotauros Assistant Coach Mick Berge, has accepted the Assistant Coach/Director of Scouting position with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League.  Berge had started his second season on the Tauros’ bench at the NAHL Showcase last week.  Now Berge heads to Lincoln for their season opener on Friday.  Berge played in Lincoln for three seasons, amassing 35 goals and 82 assists.

Mick thanked the Tauros for his opportunity in Minot, “I want to thank Marty and Brad for the opportunity they gave me here.  Just like the players in this league, many of the coaches are trying to advance their careers to the next level.” Berge was also quick to credit Head Coach Marty Murray with helping him advance; “Lincoln is an opportunity I can’t pass up.  Having played there for three years I’m excited to go back to where my junior career began.  Again I can’t thank Marty enough for the opportunity and the experience I gained working with him.  He taught me a lot, and helped me improve as a coach; without him I wouldn’t be getting this opportunity.  I will always be a Tauro and wish Minot nothing but the best.”  Murray responded “We’re very pleased with Mick getting the opportunity to move on in his coaching career and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”

Berge will join three other former Minotauros in the USHL this season.  Mason Morelli (Fargo), Ryan Ruck (Des Moines), and Jacob Benson (Dubuque) all played for the Tauros last season with Berge on the bench.
