Mar 26, 2015

Bismarck, ND – The Minotauros and Bobcats will meet each other in the postseason for the first time a week from tonight; but first they must finish out the regular season with a pair of games in Bismarck this weekend.  With Central Division playoff seeding locking in last weekend there is little but bragging rights to play for this weekend in North Dakota’s capital.

The Tauros are 6-2-2 on the season against the Bobcats on the year, including a 4-0-0 record in Bismarck.  In those four meetings at the VFW Sportscenter the Tauros have outscored the Bobcats 22-9.  Christian Mohs (18g 33a) leads the way with 14 points against the Bobcats with four goals and 10 assists.  Chase Springman’s (13g 18a) five goals are the most of the Tauros against the Bobcats.  Atte Tolvanen (26-13-5, 1.94 gaa, .922 sv%) has played in eight of the 10 meetings to this point with three shutouts of the Cats on the season.  Tanner Holmes (9-3-1, 2.42 gaa, .899 sv%) has one of his two shutouts on the season against the Capital Kitties and has a .922 sv% against them.

Jared Spooner’s (9g 33a) two goals and five assists gives him a team best seven points against the Tauros.  Evan Giesler (28g 24a) has five goals and an assist against the Tauros to be the most dangerous scoring threat.  In net Alex Bitsakis (15-12-3, 2.64 gaa, .908 sv%) and Hunter Shepard (14-13-1, 3.25 gaa, .877 sv%) have split time on the year and against the Tauros.  Shepard is 3-1-0 against the Tauros while Bitsakis is 1-5-0.

After this weekend’s season ending series the teams will meet in Minot on Friday to kick off the Robertson Cup Playoffs.  The Tauros have home ice advantage and will host games one, three, and five (if needed) at the Maysa.  Tickets for games one and three are available now by clicking the “Tickets” tab atop this page.  Fans who get season tickets for the 2015/16 season prior to the end of round one get their round one tickets free.  For more info email contact@minotauroshockey.com or call the Tauros office at (701)852-0101.
