Enns Commits to Nebraska-Omaha

Dec 14, 2017

Minot, ND – The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that defenseman Colby Enns has committed to NCAA Division I, the University of Nebraska-Omaha.  Enns becomes the second Minotauro to commit to a NCAA Division I school this week and the 30th overall.  In total 61 Tauros have now committed to NCAA D I or D III schools.

The Minot native Enns is in his first full season with the Minotauros after joining the teams after the North Dakota high school season ended last season.  In 37 career games as a Tauro Enns has posted seven goals and eight assists; three of his five goals this season have been game winners including two in overtime.  His 12 points this season are second among Tauro defensemen and his +6 rating is third among all Tauro skaters.

Enns credited his visit to UNO as a major contributor to his decision to commit, “I love it down there, the way the coaches treated me, players treated me. I got to meet the team and saw how much of a family they have there.  I really like the facilities and their rink is really nice, it’s all top of the line down there.” Enns added that “they have a great history of Minot natives who have played down there,” which includes Tauro alum Mason Morelli who is currently second on the Mavericks with 14 points through 16 games.

Minotauros Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray said, “obvisously this is a big day for Colby, the Tauros, and Minot hockey.  To have a player go through the Minot Hockey Boosters youth program, then Minot High, and now us, to earn a division I opportunity to a very good school makes it a great day for Minot hockey.”  Murray continued, “The sky’s the limit for Colby, his ability to skate and separate himself from defenders makes him a special player at our level.”

The excited Enns is grateful for the opportunity and does not intend to waste it, “thank you to everyone in Minot who has supported me to reach this goal, the work doesn’t stop here.”
