Minot, ND – As the Minotauros seventh season draws near it is time to start meeting the players who hope to head to the NAHL Showcase after training camp.  Camp opened September 3rd and continue the pre-season Wednesday night against the Bismarck Bobcats in Bismarck at 7:15.  We continue meeting the team with defenseman Brendan Mark.

Mark comes to Minot having played a year of junior win the Estevan Bruins.  In his lone season with the Bruins Mark posted a goal and six assists in 39 games played.  Prior to that he played with Alex Adams at Grand Rapids High School in Minnesota.  In three seasons of high school in Minnesota Mark posted 11 goals and 24 assists from the blue line.

Mark said he likes to keep it simple on the ice, “I just try to be tough to play against in the defensive zone and try to make a simple play to get the puck moving up ice.”  He added that he does like to “be a threat on offense” as well adding that his favorite player is “P.K. Subban.”

As for why he decided to come to Minot he believed the Tauros would be “a better opportunity to better my game.”  Mark also said he was excited to get to reunite with “a couple of kids that I grew up playing with,Al Adams and Taylor Lantz.”

Tauros scout Reed Larson scouted Mark at Grand Rapids, “Brendan brings us a good balance of offense and reliable defense.”  Larson continued “as a staff we have discussed the importance of adding players that have experience winning.  Brendan was a member of the Grand Rapids team that finished 3rd at the Minnesota state tournament in 2016.”

Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray echoed Larson’s comments, “Brendan adds some much-needed experience for us on the back end.  It’s very appealing he played at a level equivalent to ours last year.”  As for Mark’s play Murray believes he is “a well rounded player that can play all situations.”

Come back Sunday when we will meet defenseman Conner McGinnis.  Do not miss your chance to see Mark and all of the Tauros in game action for Sunday afternoon at 3:00 at the Maysa Arena when the Fargo Force come to Minot to close the pre-season.  Tickets will be $5.00 at the door and season ticket holders get in for free.
