Minot, ND – The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that defenseman Jake Rosenbaum has committed to play his college hockey for the NCAA DI National Champion University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD).  Rosenbaum becomes the first Minotauro to commit to UMD and the ninth 2017-18 Minotauro to commit to play NCAA hockey.

Rosenbaum was acquired via trade in late November and made his Tauro debut the first weekend of December getting an assist in each game of a weekend split with the Aberdeen Wings.  “Rosie” went on to post six goals and six assists in 38 regular season games with the Tauros.  Rosenbaum posted three assists and a +6 rating in the playoffs for the Tauros giving the Tauros a solid second defensive pair with Connor McGinnis as they pushed all the way to the Robertson Cup National Championship Game.

As for his future plans Rosenbaum said he chose UMD “because of their outstanding hockey reputation, the high-level coaching staff, and the number of players they move onto professional hockey which is my ultimate goal.”  He added that while attending UMD he plans to study business media.

Rosenbaum, who had 111 games for three other NAHL teams prior to arriving in Minot credits his time as a Tauro with helping him commit to the defending National Champs, “Being a Tauro prepared me both physically and mentally for D1 through teaching me good habits on and off the ice and how to carry myself as a high level hockey player. I don’t think I would have been able to get to this point in my career without the help of Marty [Murray], Shane [Wagner], Waz [Wyatt Waselenchuk] and the rest of the Tauros organization”

As for what the Bulldogs can expect from their newest addition Tauros’ Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray was effusive in his praise of Rosenbaum, “The Tauros organization is extremely happy for Jake. He will be getting an amazing opportunity with a national championship team.  Jake brought leadership to our team upon his arrival to Minot, and really helped our D core become a very solid group down the stretch.  Jake is a great kid, a hard worker, and will do anything that is asked if him.”

Aside from crediting the Tauros coaches with helping him reach his goal Rosenbaum was quick to thank several helping hands along the way, “my mom, dad, brother, and sister back home; my billets Molly and Jon-Michael; and of course all the boys that I had the pleasure of playing with on my junior hockey journey for helping me reach this point in my career.”

The first step in replacing Rosenbaum and all of the Tauros whom have moved on to college is tomorrow with the 2018 North American Hockey League Draft.  The Tauros select ninth overall.  Follow the Tauros on Twitter for live draft updates.
