Splitting the Frontier

Nov 19, 2017

The Tauros finished their two-weekend trip to Alaska the same way they started it, with a win.  The bookend wins gave the Tauros a 2-2-0 showing on their trip north.  The first weekend of the trip the Tauros went to Soldotna, AK and beat the Kenai River Brown Bears 6-3.  They followed that win with a loss on Saturday night finishing the season series with the Bears an even 2-2-0.  From there the Tauros remained in Alaska, eventually traveling to Fairbanks to take on the Ice Dogs.  After a 5-2 loss on Friday the Tauros bounced back and won an overtime thriller 4-3 on Saturday.

Miroslav Mucha certainly enjoyed playing in Alaska posting five goals and an assist over the four game span.  Rykr Cole added three goals and two assists, and Austin Dollimer had two goals and two helpers to pace the Tauro offense in Alaska.   In net Samu Lonkila started three of the four, picking up both wins and posting a .909 SV%.

The emotional win in Fairbanks on Saturday night will hopefully propel the Tauros into a five game home stand.  The Tauros have been hovering at the breakeven mark for since October 20th, going 5-5-0 over the last 10 games.  With a return home for a long stretch the Tauros have a chance to climb back into playoff contention.  The win last night jumped the Tauros ahead of the Minnesota Wilderness and put them just five points behind the Austin Bruins for fourth place in the Central.

Friday night is Pack the Pepsi Night, a season ticket holder in attendance will being winning a trip for two to Las Vegas and every fan in the building will have a chance to “Crack the Vault” and win $10,000!  Individual tickets for every Tauros home game are available through the “Tickets” tab atop this page.  Tauros fans can save by bringing friends, get a new Tauros Party Pack which includes 10 game tickets and 20 drink tickets good for beer, wine, or soda; a $220 value for just $100 this Friday and $150 for any game after that.  Call the Tauros office at (701)852-0101 to get your Tauros Party Pack today.
