Minot, ND – The Minotauros are proud to announce that forward Michael Talbot has committed to play hockey for the NCAA DIII College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN.  Talbot joins former Minotauros teammates Nate Pionk and Chase Springman along with Tauro alum Max Mettler at CSS.  Talbot becomes the eighth 2017-18 Minotauro to have college plans.

In his Tauro career Talbot played 93 regular season games and 14 playoff contests.  He posted a combined 22 goals and 27 assists.  Talbot had a knack for scoring big goals as well including an overtime game winner against Austin in mid-March which helped key the Tauros push for the playoffs and two goals in Game Three against Fairbanks in the Robertson Cup Semi-Final.

Tauros Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray referenced those goals when talking about Talbot moving on; “Michael was a solid two-year player for us, and his leadership was very valuable to our team this year. He is a high character kid with a very good skill set. His two goals in game three vs Fairbanks will be something that Tauro fans will remember for a long time.”

Talbot points to several reasons why he chose Scholastica, “I really like that area in Duluth, it’s a great school with a great hockey program, can get a good education.”  Talbot, always one to keep things light in the locker room, added, “and Chase Springman also talked me into it.”  As for what he plans to study Talbot said he plans “on studying to be a teacher/ coach.”

Before leaving Minot Talbot was quick to point out that Minot “gave me an opportunity to further my hockey career” and that he was specifically thankful to “my family, Marty, Wags, and Waz [Tauros Assistant Coaches Shane Wagner and Wyatt Waselenchuk], and my teammates for a great 2 years in Minot.”
