Jake Dittel skated in a big shadow last season as the defense partner of departed Tauros’ Captain Jon Lizotte. As the Captain’s wingman Dittel posted five goals and eight assists and a +9 rating. Now with Lizotte gone to St. Cloud State Dittel is one of the favorites to get his former defensemate’s “C.” The rugged defenseman is a nightmare to play against as his physical play is often right on the edge, which lead to him being whistled for six misconducts last season. Dittel is not just a physical threat; he is sound defensively and makes good decisions, which is why he was trusted to be on the Tauros top pair last season from the start as a rookie. Now a veteran with two seasons of eligibility remaining Dittel will anchor the Tauros top pair.
From the Coach’s Office: What's not to love about Jake Dittel? He plays the game the right way, and is a "team first" guy as soon as he steps on the ice. He was outstanding last season, playing on our top defensive pairing, most nights playing against the opposing teams top line. Jake makes it difficult on the opposition with his in your face type of game, and will be a key on our solid back end this season. This comes without surprise, but Jake has shown exceptional leadership so far in camp. – Head Coach Marty Murray
