Minot, ND – As the 2016/17 NAHL season draws near we are giving Tauros fans a chance to meet all of the new members of the club as well as learn a little more about the returning Tauros. We will play 20 questions with a different Tauro every day from now until the NAHL Showcase going in number order, today we meet #3 Jeremy Masella.
Masella comes to the Tauros from the Arizona Bobcats 16U team in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL). A big defenseman at 6’2” and 190 lbs. Masella will bring size and youth to the Tauros blue line as he is a 1999 birth year. Masella posted one goal and 11 assists last year for Arizona along with 40 penalty minutes in 25 games. His play earned him NAPHL 16U Second All-Star Team. The Phoenix, AZ native becomes the fourth Tauros from the Grand Canyon State joining Johnny Walker (Phoenix), Brett Robinson (Scottsdale), and Bryan McFarlane (Scottsdale).
From the Coaches’ Office: Jeremy is the youngest player arriving in Minot, but he is also the biggest. He really seemed to gain more confidence as main camp progressed, and stood out in many ways. He has a good stick, makes good decisions with the puck, and you can’t teach size. The sky is the limit for this young player, but if he adapts and picks up on the junior game, his future could be very bright. – Marty Murray
