Talent Analysis

At 5'9, 159 lbs. Smoot projects has a crafty prospect at forward with significant offensive upside. Even for a self-described "undersized forward" he plays with an appetite for destruction and welcomes physical play. Scott is effective at using his speed and quickness to hurry opposing teams defense and force turnovers. He has improved his point total every season and will now focus his attention to doing so at the NAHL level.

Future

Smoot appears to be a player who will benefit from two athletically gifted linemates and become a sneaky scorer for the Tauros in the process. With good hockey sense, energy and a certain scrappiness to his game, the Colorado native shows all the characteristics of a good agitator. The player admittedly will progress by improving strength and speed. Proving his ability to stay on the plus side of plus/minus could lead Mr. Smoot to extra minutes on-ice at the Maysa this season.
