Minot, ND – The Minotauros got back on the winning track this weekend with a sweep of the Bismarck Bobcats.  Both wins came in overtime and pulled the out of the Central Division basement and into fourth place in a packed tight Central.

Friday night the Tauros struck first when Miroslav Mucha netted his 8th of the season off a faceoff in the offensive zone midway through the first period.  The Bobcats drew even later in the period when Tommy Altounian scored from below the goal line banking a shot off of Tauro goaltender Jack Robbel.  That would be the last puck Robbel would miss on the evening stopping 20 of 21 through the rest of regulation and overtime.  In the three-on-three overtime it was Robbel who started the game wining play moving the puck up ice to Andrew  Kangas.  Kangas then drew two defenders before moving the puck to a wide open Austin Dollimer who scored the game winner 1:17 into the extra session.

Saturday night saw the Bobcats push back early.  Adam Stacho and Michael Mahan scored at 1:14 and 3:54 of the first to give the Cats a quick 2-0 lead.  The Tauros pushed back again however and once again Robbel shut the door making several outstanding saves the rest of the way.  Ondrej Pavel broke through on an odd-man rush for the Tauros in the middle of the second pushing a Brendan Sheehan rebound past Ryan Ullan.   Kangas tied the game with his first as a Tauro early in the when he beat Ullan on a breakaway.  For the second night in a row the Tauros and Cats went to overtime and just as the night before the Tauros got the win on a play set up by Kangas.  This time after being stopped on a breakaway Kangas found his own rebound and moved it back to the point.  From there Colby Enns walked in and wired a shot past Ullan to secure the weekend sweep.

Next up for the Tauros is a home set with the Aberdeen Wings this weekend.  Friday’s game is sponsored by First International Bank and Trust and starts at 7:35. Saturday’s game is the first 8:05 start of the season for the Tauros, after the game will be the November Skate with the Tauros so bring your skates and get on the ice with the guys after the game.  Tickets for both games are available and can be purchased by clicking the “Tickets” tab atop this page.
