Four Tauros Named Top Prospects

Feb 12, 2018

Minot, ND – The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that four players have been selected to play in the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan on February 27th and 28th.  Forward Austin Dollimer, defenseman Jake Rosenbaum, and goaltender Samu Lonkila will play for Team Central; defenseman Colby Enns will suit up for the NAHL Selects Red.

Dollimer is in his second season as a Tauro and will be making his first appearance at Top Prospects.  Dollimer is second on the Tauros with 35 points on 10 goals and 25 assists over 39 games.  Last season Dollimer posted nine goals and 13 assists in 54 games as a rookie, he added a goal and an assist in the Tauros first round playoff loss to Aberdeen.

Rosenbaum was acquired from the Topeka Roadrunners via trade earlier this season.  Since joining the Tauros he has played 20 games and posted five goals and four assists.  In total Rosenbaum has played 131 games in the NAHL for four different clubs, he has 13 goals and 29 assists over his three NAHL seasons.

After playing his first three junior seasons in his home country of Finland Lonkila joined the Tauros hoping to play college hockey.  Overall on the season Lonkila has a 12-10-4 record to go with a 2.61 GAA and .912 SV%.  However after adjusting to life in the US and the North American style of game Lonkila has posted an 8-4-2 record, .932 SV% and 2.03 GAA.

Tauros Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray believes that Dollimer, Rosenbaum, and Lonkila are Top Prospect worthy, “The three guys are very deserving to go.  They’ve all done good things for us this year and this is a great opportunity to showcase themselves to earn an NCAA DI opportunity.”

The only Tauro not playing for Team Central is Colby Enns who will suit up for the NAHL Selects Red.  In his first full season as a Tauro Enns has posted nine goals and 11 assists.  His nine goals are second among all NAHL Defensemen.  Aside from posting 20 points in 40 games Enns leads the Tauros with a +16 rating.  With a college commitment to Nebraska Omaha already locked in Murray explained that there is still plenty to play for at Top Prospects for Enns, “Colby was selected by NHL Central Scouting, it’s a great opportunity to play with the elites from our league and hopefully open some eyes at the pro level.”

You can see the Tauros Top Prospects in action this weekend when the Bismarck Bobcats come to the Maysa Arena on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m.  Tickets for the game are available through the “Tickets” tab atop this page or by clicking here.
