1-27-21 Preview

Aberdeen, SD – After a weekend off the Tauros head into a busy week starting with a Wednesday affair in Aberdeen against the red-hot Wings.  The Wings have been dominant this season going 21-1-0 bouncing back from their lone loss on the season with another 6-0-0 run.  The Tauros meanwhile have struggled of late with several new faces joining the team in recent weeks and a schedule that has led to a lot of stopping and starting with just three games in the last 38 days.

Despite being swept in their last series against Kenai River two weekends ago the Tauros did get promising performances from their new faces.  All three goals the Tauros scored came from players added since Christmas as Brett Roloson, Gabe Temple, and Logan Anderson each tallied on the weekend, and Ethan Schmunk added an assist.  Overall Captain Jack Westlund and Kaiden Scott lead the Tauros with 11 points each.

Aberdeen meanwhile has been dominant this year leading the league with 4.77 goals per game and giving up the fewest goals per game at just 1.14.  The shot averages are dominant as well with Aberdeen ranking second in both shots for 38.50 per game and shots against at 25.59.  The dominant offense and defense have helped former Tauro Jake Sibell in goal posting a .960 SV% and 1.01 GAA and earning December NAHL Goaltender of the Month honors.  Clayton Cosentino and Payton Matsui are tied for the Wings lead with 32 points each.

The rare Wednesday game for the Tauros sets up a busy weekend with the Tauros then returning to Minot to host the St. Cloud Norsemen on Friday and Saturday to kick off a stretch of three consecutive home weekends.  All three games will be on HockeyTV.com, Mixlr, Facebook, and GoTauros.com. Tickets for Friday and Saturday’s games are available through the “Tickets” tab atop this page or by clicking here.
