2023 NAHL Showcase Day Four

Sep 17, 2023

By Andrew Lennox Blaine, MN – The Minotauros conclude the 2023 NAHL Showcase losing to the Wisconsin Windigo 2-1 Saturday. Despite the loss, Minot kicks off the season with an impressive 3-1 record.

Wisconsin would take a 1-0 lead at 7:31 of the first frame when defenseman Erick Comstock picked off an attempted Tauro breakout pass and then shot from the high slot to beat netminder James Norton. Minot would tie it up before the end of the first as Trevor Stachowiak carried the puck wide into the offensive zone, skating towards opposing netminder Lindards Lipskis’s crease and then passing to Will Dawson for the easy tap-in.

Only one more goal was scored between the two teams at 15:39 in the second period. Former Tauro Max Martin would be responsible for the go-ahead marker as the Windigo would jump ahead 2-1.

Minot had several golden opportunities throughout most of the game and outshot Wisconsin 11-1 in the third period. However, Lipskis was up to the task, registering 36 saves on 37 shots.

Next up, the Minotauros get a long break to recover from the four-day grind. The Tauro’s next game is the Home Opener against the Aberdeen Wings on October 6th at the Pepsi Rink at Maysa Arena. Tickets are available now through the Tickets tab atop this page. The good news is you do not have to wait three weeks to get to see the Tauros! The Tauros Inaugural Bowling Tournament is on Saturday, September 30th, and there are still open spots for bowlers of all levels to meet the team.
