Sam in Sochi: August 28

Aug 28, 2019

Tauros’ defenseman Sam Skinner is representing the Tauros, NAHL, and USA Hockey as a member of Team NAHL in the Sirius Junior World Cup in Russia. After some connectivity issues saw Skinner’s messages lost in cyberspace we’ve caught up with him and now hope to be back on track for him to send us a quick update each day to let us know what how he and the team are doing.

I was able to finally play in my first game for NAHL in Sochi tonight. It was certainly a nail biter of a game as team NAHL waited to put points on the scoreboard until the last 3 minutes of the game to try to catch up from behind. We had 2 goals called off earlier in the game and was a lot for us to overcome. We ended up with a 2 to 3 loss but I was happy to finally catch a little ice time. Pizza was my food of choice again tonight as I could not tell by the looks what dinner was from the hotel.  While we still have one game left I’m looking forward to getting back to Minot, rejoining the Tauros, and giving Grantley my Team NAHL jersey!
