Amici Commits to Bentley

Jul 14, 2023

Minot, ND – The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that alumni forward Kolby Amici has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Bentley University.  Amici becomes the 100th NCAA DI commitment in franchise history, and just the second to go to Bentley joining Nick Grabko who will be in his fourth season as a Falcon.

Amici was drawn to both the hockey program and academics of Bentley when making his decision.  The former Tauro plans to study finance while continuing his hockey career.  “I’ve heard good things about the program and that Coach Jones, who just got the job there, is great.”  He added “Bentley has a really good finance and business school and that is something I’m excited about.”

As for what Bentley is getting in Amici Tauros Head Coach/General Manager Cody Campbell said, “Bentley is getting a high energy, high work rate player, who will find a way to make an impact one way or another. They are also adding a genuine and positive person to campus. We couldn’t be more excited to watch Kolby over the next four years.”

Acquired at the trade deadline Amici played just 20 games for the Tauros but had a huge impact.  He posted 12 points on five goals and seven assists and helped push the Tauros into the playoffs.  In his career he had 50 points in 113 games in the NAHL spending time with the Jamestown Rebels and El Paso Rhinos before coming to Minot.

Although he was only a Tauro for a short time Amici said, “being a Tauro really helped me become who I am in such a short amount of time both on and off the ice with becoming a good person and just Minot has all the resources for you to work on your game whenever you want and I think that really helped me reach this goal!”

Amici’s commitment to Bentley continues Campbell’s run of committing aged out players after the season ends.  Last summer, Campbell’s first with the team, Nikolai Charchenko (Colorado College) and Dean Schwenninger (Stonehill) both committed to NCAA DI schools in July.

As for Amici Campbell added, “Kolby is extremely deserving of this opportunity. He had a fantastic junior career, and was a huge part of our late season success. He will fit in seamlessly to the academic community and the team culture that Andy Jones will establish at Bentley.”

A grateful Amici wanted to be sure to thank the many people who have helped him reach his goal, “I would like to thank the whole Minotauros organization who welcomed me right away and made me feel at home. I also want to thank my family, my teammates and my friends because I couldn’t have done it without any of them! And finally anyone who has had a part in my hockey career!”
