Captain Stax

Jan 12, 2023

Minot, ND – The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that Trevor Stachowiak has been named the 12th Captain in team history.  Stachowiak is in his third season as a Minotauro and already has 133 games played in cream and cardinal during which he has posted 16 goals and 47 assists.

“Trevor embodies what it means to be a Tauro. He’s great in the community, an intense competitor, prepares like a pro and a teammate that everyone trusts and knows they can rely upon,” said Tauros Head Coach/General Manager Cody Campbell.

For the longtime Tauro it is an honor to be the team’s next captain, “  It means a lot to me to be named captain and I feel it’s a huge honor. We have a really special group of guys and we are really excited for our future as we have grown a lot as a team.”  Stachowiak described his leadership style, “I try and lead by example. I also have a lot of experience and feel I can provide guys help if they need it.”  He added wearing the “C” on his jersey is not “any extra pressure. I don’t think having a letter or not should change the way anyone acts so I will continue to be myself.”

Today’s announcement is the deepest into a season that the Tauros have waited to announce a Captain.  Campbell explained the reason for the decision, “We took our time with this as I have learned how important it is to let the teams personality develop before defining leadership. We asked every player after brake to give us a guy or two they saw as a leader and everyone of Trevor’s teammates mentioned him. He’s earned the respect and trust of his teammates by the way he conducts his daily business and we couldn’t be more excited for Stax to wear the ‘C’ for this group. ”

Despite being in his third season in the Magic City Stachowiak still has another season of junior eligibility remaining.  With 86 possible regular season games left in his Tauro career Stachowiak could get to 219 games played which would well surpass Chase Springman’s franchise record of 172 games played.  The new Captain would be honored to set the record, “that would be very cool to do. I have loved my time in Minot and will forever be grateful to live in such a great community with my amazing billet family the Carbo’s and play for such a special organization in front of the best fans.”

Stachowiak and the rest of the Tauros host the Aberdeen Wings this weekend.  Tickets for the weekend are available through the “Tickets” tab atop this page or by visiting tickets.minotauroshockey.com!
