Mar 23, 2021

This week’s Dakota Property Management Alumni Report takes a look at the NCAA Division I Championship Tournament and which teams have a Tauro on the roster.

Fargo Regional

(1) UND vs. (4) AIC

We know most Tauros fans will no doubt be rooting for top seeded UND even though they are without a Tauro alum since Casey Johnson graduated last season.  They will be taking on American International College and Tauro Alum Aaron Grounds.

(2) Michigan vs. (3) Minnesota Duluth

Defenseman Jake Rosenbaum had two assists this season for Minnesota Duluth who won the last two Frozen Four titles.

Bridgeport Regional

(1) Wisconsin vs. (4) Bemidji State

The first game of the tournament to feature a Tauro Alum on each squad.  Ben Garrity is a back-up goaltender for the Badgers while former Tauro captain Alex Adams who had two goals and three assists for Bemidji State in his junior season.

(2) UMass vs. (3) Lake Superior State

UMass knocked out three Tauro alum (Nolan Sawchuk, Reid Stefanson, and Nik Armstrong-Kingkade) defeating UMass-Lowell in the Hockey East championship game.  Now they will face the WCHA champs in Miroslav Mucha and Lake State.  Mucha, the only Tauro ever to pot 30 goals in a season had five goals and nine assists in his third season as a Laker.

Loveland Regional

(1) Minnesota vs. (4) Omaha

This is one of two games without any Tauros alum.

(2) Minnesota State vs. (3) Quinnipiac

Ondrej Pavel and the Minnesota State Mavericks take on Marcus Chorney and Quinnipiac.  Chorney had a goal and two helpers in his third season in Hamden, CT.  Pavel posted four helpers in 11 games as a Freshman.

Albany Regional

(1) Boston College vs. (4) Notre Dame

This is the other game without any Tauro alum.

(2) St. Cloud State vs. (3) Boston University

Former Tauro fan favorite Wilmer Skoog suits up for the Terriers for whom he scored three goals and four helpers in 13 games as a sophomore.  St. Cloud technically has a Tauro Alum as well in the form of Spencer Meier who played one game as an Affiliate Player for the Tauros in the 2016-17 season; Meier would be the ninth Tauro Alum in the tournament.
