Minot, ND – The Minotauros are on the verge of clinching a playoff spot for the fourth consecutive season.  One point guarantees a tie break situation and two points would mean that neither the Minnesota Magicians, or this weekend’s opponents the Brookings Blizzard would be able to pass the Tauros in the standings.  A win would also lock in the Tauros second consecutive 30-win season after last year’s club went 37-17-6.  This year’s Tauros sit at 29-17-5 through 51 games and are tied with the Bismarck Bobcats atop the Central Division with nine games to play.

Christian Mohs (15g 26a) has nine points on two goals and seven assists against the Blizzard this year to lead all scorers in the season series.  Chase Springman’s (12g 18a) has four goals against the Blizzard and Max Reisinger (11g 22a) has three in just four games against the Snowmen since being acquired via trade.  Jake Dittel (2g 17a) has five assists against the Blizzard this year.  After allowing the Blizzard to convert on four of twelve power plays on the season’s opening weekend the Tauros have killed Brookings’ last 25 consecutive power plays.

For the Blizzard Kane Durment (13g 20a) has a goal and five assists for a team leading six points against the Tauros.  Mikael Hakkarainen (10g 24a) and Garrett Elmore (9g 9a) each have a team best two goals against the Tauros. The Tauros have outscored the Blizzard 31-17 on the season set, including 25-9 since the season’s opening weekend.

Friday night is IRET Minot Heroes Night, over 150 tickets have been donated to area first responders for the game.  Kids should dress as their favorite super hero for a chance to win prizes as well.  Saturday night is SRT Night at the Maysa, SRT will be giving away Tauros team posters and fans will have a chance to get them autographed after the game during a skate with the Tauros.  Tickets for both games are available by clicking the “Tickets” tab atop this page.
