Minot, ND – The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that captain Jon Lizotte has committed to play his college hockey at NCAA DI St. Cloud State University.  Lizotte is in his final season of eligibility with the Minotauros and will matriculate to St. Cloud next season.

Tauros Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray raved about the Tauros’ captain; “Jon is very deserving of this opportunity.  He’s been great for us for two seasons.  I’m confident he will be a great addition for St. Cloud.”  In his second year with the Tauros Lizotte is second all time in Minotauros history with 59 points.  Overall in two seasons Lizotte has played 110 games posting 20 goals and 39 assists.  He has twice represented the Minotauros on Team Central at the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, the league’s all-star event.

Lizotte said he chose St. Cloud “because it is a good school and great program.”  The 20 year-old Lizotte also said, “it will be fun to play with Blake [Lizotte] again,” though he added that he “does not” look forward to having to once again tell people that the two are not related.  Blake Lizotte, the Tauros leading scorer committed to St. Cloud earlier this season.

Jon Lizotte becomes the second player on this year’s Tauros team to commit to an NCAA DI school and 11th overall in Tauros history.  27 Minotauros have moved on to play NCAA DI or DIII hockey in the franchise’s four season history.
