Minot, ND – As the Minotauros seventh season draws near it is time to start meeting the players who hope to head to the NAHL Showcase after training camp.  Camp opened September 3rd, the preseason is done, and the regular season starts tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. against the Shreveport Mudbugs at the NAHL Showcase.  We continue meeting the team with defenseman Jordan Strand.

Jordan Strand comes to the Tauros from Park High School in Minnesota.  In three seasons the defenseman posted 37 points in 71 games, however his final high school season saw him post 22 of those points on four goals and 18 assists.

Tauros Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray praised Strand as “a solid two-way defenseman who makes good decisions with the puck and knows when to jump in on offense.”  Strand agrees with that assessment saying he “models my play after Ryan Suter because he takes care of the d-zone and Chips in on offense too.”

Strand is coming to Minot with simple goals saying he wants “win a Robertson Cup and improve as a player.”  Strand will have ample opportunity to do just that as the Tauros have just Nolan Sawchuk and Colby Enns returning from last season’s defense group meaning there are four regular spots in the lineup available to be claimed as the season opens.

Watch or listen as the Minotauros strive to defend their 2016 NAHL Showcase Championship starting tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.  against the Shreveport Mudbugs.  The game can be heard for free by clicking the “Listen Live” tab atop this page, on AM 1390 KRRZ in Minot, or you can watch pay-per-view video on www.hockeytv.com.  Come back tomorrow when we will meet the last Tauro alphabetically Michael Talbot.
