Minot, ND – The Minotauros are making plans for the future already. The team has signed Colorado Rampage forward Sam Gilmore to a tender for the 2015-16 season. This is the first signing of the season for the Tauros.

Gilmore, a native of Westminster, CO currently has six goals and eight assists in twelve games with the Rampage, and has 40 points in his career with Colorado. It is tough to miss Gilmore on the ice standing at 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds. “Sam is a big forward with a lot of upside to his game, he is a very skilled forward but more so he isn’t afraid to use his size to create space and is willing to go to the tough areas and pay the price” said Assistant Coach Nigel Dube. “His compete level and character are two major factors in signing him to a tender, monitoring his progress and talking with his coach he posses the things we look for in our players here” added Dube.

The Colorado Rampage play in the Tier 1 Elite League, the team is no stranger to the Minotauros’ where former player Tyler Shipstad had played his midget majors. “Coach Sherman does a great job with his players there and you know that they are getting the preparation they need for the next level on and off the ice” said Dube. Gilmore’s hobbies and interests outside of playing hockey are hunting and fishing which fit well with North Dakota and he is excited about signing, “I am extremely excited for this opportunity, I am looking forward to doing what I can to help the team and getting better in the process” said Gilmore from the Rampage rink in Colorado.

The Minotauros coaching staff will continue to scout and sign players to tenders throughout the season, while also building a draft board.  For more tender signings and all of the latest Tauros news on and off the ice be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
