Opportunity Erne’d

Minot, ND – The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that defenseman Lincoln Erne has committed to place NCAA DI hockey for Canisius College.  Erne becomes the 42nd Tauro in the last seven seasons to earn a Division I opportunity.  The second year defenseman has played 128 of the Tauros 134 games over the last two seasons posting 52 points on nine goals and 43 assists.  Erne also represented the Tauros at the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament as a member of the Central Division Team.

Erne said he chose Canisius because “it felt like a great fit for hockey and for my academics. I felt a good connection with the coaches and there is so much opportunity.”  He added “I also like the location in Buffalo, New York!”  Erne has yet to decide a major for his college career yet but says, “they have many majors that interest me.”

Tauros Head Coach and General Manger Marty Murray “he has all the tools that people look for in a defenseman, he’s big, blocks shots, plays all situations and has been a big part of our back end for two seasons.” Erne believes those two season in Minot were instrumental to him getting a DI opportunity.  “Being a Tauro and a part of the Minot community has helped me immensely over these past two years. I’ve grown so much as a person and a player and I can’t thank this organization and community enough.”

Erne was quick to thank the many people who have helped him reach his goal, “my family, friends, teammates, Coach Murray, Wagner, Wazelenchuk, and Mr. Porter for making all of this possible. Lastly my billet family the Picard’s, they’ve allowed me to feel comfortable from day one and I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

Erne and the Tauros return to action this weekend in the opening round of the Robertson Cup Playoffs.  The Minotauros host the Bismarck Bobcats in Games One and Two of the best of five series this Friday and Saturday night.  Tickets for both games are available now through the “Tickets” tab atop this page.
