Preview 3-16-21

Mar 17, 2021

The Minotauros bounced back in a big way with a dominant sweep of their longest rival the Bismarck Bobcats last weekend.  The Cats had been rolling, going 12-1-2 over their previous 15 games.  Now the Tauros get a chance to make another statement with three games in four days against the Aberdeen Wings.

The Wings of course are looking to re-write the NAHL record book, with a 33-1-1 record the Wings are well beyond the pace to break the NAHL record of 49 wins in a season set by the 2014-15 Janesville Jets and matched the next season by the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.  The Wings single loss came December 19th at the hands of the St. Cloud Norsemen.  The Wings have been dominant, outscoring the Tauros 21-4 on the season, and all opponents 160-43.  Thomas Manty and Natan Vertes lead the Wings against the Tauros with four goals and six assists each.

For the Tauros the top line of Jay Buchholz flanked by a pair of Arizona State commits in Cade Stibbe and Tyler Kostelecky have fueled the offense.  The trio has combined for eight goals in four games this month.  Stibbe has taken over the team lead with 18 points on eight goals and 10 assists on the season.  Mason Campbell’s goal and assist against the Wings make him the only Tauro with multiple points against the Wings this year.

The three game week kicks off tonight in Aberdeen against the Wings before shifting to Minot Friday and Saturday nights.  Tickets for the weekend games in Minot are available through the “Tickets” tab atop this page or by clicking here.  The Minotauros Booster Club will be hosting tailgates for both games.
