Preview 3-26-21

Mar 26, 2021

Austin, MN – The Minotauros head to Austin for the first time this season to take on the Bruins.  The Tauros swept the Bruins in December when the Bruins came to the Pepsi Rink at Maysa Arena as part of their month long stay in the Dakotas.  The weekend set is a big chance for the Tauros to distance themselves from the fifth place Bruins who are currently nine points back and sitting on the outside looking in on the playoff race.

The Tauros took one of three from the Aberdeen Wings last weekend, winning the Wednesday matchup in Aberdeen before the Wings won both games in Minot on the weekend.  The Tauros are 3-2-2 on the month with the offense led by the Jay Buchholz, Cade Stibbe, and Tyler Kostelecky line who have combined for nine goals this month.  Stibbe is also the Tauros active leader with nine points against the Bruins in his career.  Damon Zimmer leads the Tauros against the Bruins this season with a goal and two assists in the first two meetings.

The Bruins have bounced back from a 3-12-1 stretch with a 3-2-0 the last two weeks.  Carson Riddle leads the Bruins with 22 points on the year; he also leads the Bruins against the Tauros with two goals this year and nine points in his career.  Overall the Bruins sit 18th in offense scoring 2.41 goals per game while allowing 3.43 which ranks 18th as well.  In goal Tyler Shea has played 26 of the Bruins 37 games with 9-12-3 record posting a 3.02 GAA and .917 SV%.

his weekend’s games will be on HockeyTV.com, Mixlr, Facebook, and GoTauros.com.  The Farmers Union Insurance Pregame Show will start at 6:50 for 7:05 puck drops both nights.  The Tauros will then return home to the Pepsi Rink at Maysa Arena to host the Aberdeen Wings on April 6th.  Tickets for that game are available through the “Tickets” atop this page.
