Minot, ND – The Minotauros host the Aberdeen Wings on a rare Tuesday night matchup on the Pepsi Rink at Maysa Arena. The last time the Tauros faced the Wings on a weekday they gave the Wings one of their two losses on the season. Since then the Tauros have gone 3-3 including a split last weekend with the St. Cloud Norsemen. The Wings meanwhile got right back to their winning ways rattling off six more victories.
The Tauros recent success has come in large part off of the stick of Blaine Warnert. The 20 year-old forward had the game winning goal in four of the Tauros last six victories and has six goals total over that span. Cole Mickel has been hot for the Tauros as well posting a goal and eight assists over the Tauros last 12 contests; his 15 total points on the season is fifth among all rookie defenseman in the NAHL. Brett Roloson also is heating up with two goals and two assists in the Tauros last four games.
There is not much left to be said about the Aberdeen Wings that has not been said already. They are 39-2-1 on the season with 79 points in the standings. Barring an epic collapse they will win the Central and be the number one overall seed in the Robertson Cup Playoffs. The only question remaining is they can be the first NAHL team to post a 50 win season; both the 2014-15 Janesville Jets and 2015-16 Fairbanks Ice Dogs posted 49 wins with the Ice Dogs setting the NAHL record of 101 points in a season. Both marks are within reach of the Wings.
