Recap 10-17-21

Mason City, IA – The Minotauros earned a split in North Iowa this weekend bouncing back from a bad first period on Friday to outplay the Bulls the rest of the weekend.  The Tauros win on Saturday  stopped a three game losing streak.

On Friday night (box score) the the Bulls jumped out to an early lead with two quick goals when Byron Hartley scored Justin Mexico scored 35 seconds apart early in the first.  Cole Mickel tried to pull the Tauros back into it with a goal early in the second but Logan Dombrowsky answered back however to push the Bulls back ahead by two.  Zack Simon scored before the end of the period to give the Tauros hope going into the third but the Tauros could beat Hunter Garvey a third time to draw even and fell 3-2.

Saturday night (box score) the Tauros got off to a much better start with Trevor Stachowiak scored just 37 seconds in to give the Tauros a 1-0 lead.  Simon got his second of the weekend at 3:32 of the first and then Huston Karpman made it 3-0 Tauros 51 seconds later.  The Bulls got one back in the middle of the second but Karpman scored his second of the night late in the period.  The third period saw eight penalties called and the Tauros took advantage with two power play goals the first by Mickel and the second by Tom Friden to push the final to 6-1.
