Blaine, MN – The Minotauros are back over the .500 mark after an impressive 4-0 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays improving their record to 2-1-0 at the NAHL Showcase.  The Tauros veterans provided the offensive punch while rookie goaltender Reid Waszczenko held the IceRays off the score sheet.

Keenan Lund opened the scoring just 16 seconds into the game when he found a loose puck in the slot and Corpus goaltender Ethan Petterson to give the Tauros a quick 1-0 lead.  The Tauros carried the play for most of the period outshooting Corpus 11-7 and getting the better of the chances.  Taylor Lantz doubled the Tauro lead on the power play just after the game’s mid-point with a shot from in tight.  The third member of that line Fritz Belisle scored half way into the third on the rush to make it 3-0 Tauros.  Justin Kelley added an empty net shorthanded goal with just over four minutes to play to remove any drama from the proceeding.

All the while Waszczenko continued to make the Tauros’ coaching staff’s goaltending decision difficult.  With 30 saves today Waszczenko has yet to give up a goal as a Tauro. His other action came in relief of Samu Lonkila in Game One of last season’s playoffs against Aberdeen when he stopped all eight shots he saw.

Next up for the Tauros on Day 4 of the Showcase is the Fairbanks Ice Dogs at 4:00 p.m.  After that the Tauros will return to Central Division play heading to Brookings next weekend to take on the Blizzard.
