Sam in Sochi: Day 1 – Shipping Out

Aug 16, 2019

Tauros’ defenseman Sam Skinner is representing the Tauros, NAHL, and USA Hockey as a member of Team NAHL in the Sirius Junior World Cup in Russia.  Each day he will send us a quick update to let us know what how he and the team are doing.

Chicago, IL – Today we met as a team for the first time at the hotel in Chicago.  We went over some last-minute things and had lunch at the hotel.   Right now, we are just sitting at the airport waiting for the flight to London and then to Moscow.

The coaches seem great and my teammates are awesome.  Some were a bit weird at the start because of the rivalries but we are all good now.  We got gloves, helmets, shells, and jerseys, and they are sweet.  I’m so thankful for this opportunity to represent the Tauros and the NAHL in Russia.

Right now I’m most nervous about the flight coming up and I’m most excited to start playing some games and see how we compare to the other countries.
