Showcase Schedule Announced

By: Ken Oda,

Minot, ND –  The Minot Minotauros schedule is now complete as the North American Hockey League (NAHL) announced the schedule for the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN.  The Minotauros will face three teams from the South Division; the Wichita Falls Wildcats, Amarillo Bulls, and Corpus Christi Ice Rays, as well as one team from the East, the expansion Aston Rebels.

The four day event is the premier junior hockey scouting event in the United States as all 22 NAHL teams gather for 44 games (four games each) over four days at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, MN.  The Super Rink houses eight sheets of ice under one roof.  Aside from the NAHL action, the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), Upper Midwest High School Elite League (UMHSEL), and Tier I High Performance Hockey League (HPHL), will all have tournaments at the Super Rink which overlap the NAHL Showcase.  The event will draw over 330 National Hockey League (NHL), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and junior hockey scouts.  The scouting opportunity lead to a record 222 NCAA commits and five NHL draft picks coming from the NAHL’s ranks last season.  In total 650 NAHL alum played NCAA hockey last season and 98 played in the NHL.

The Tauros are poised to have a strong Showcase coming off of a franchise best 37-17-6 record last season including a 2-2-0 record at the 2014 NAHL Showcase.  For the first time in franchise history the Tauros will play regular season games prior to the showcase (something several teams have done in the past) meaning the players, especially rookies, will be more accustomed to the pace of the NAHL game.  This will also be the first time that the Minotauros will play two games in the prime time slots with Wednesday’s game again Wichita Falls starting at 7:15 p.m., and Thursday’s matchup with Aston dropping at 7:00 p.m.; the Tauros have only played two prime time games in the last four seasons.

The full Minotauros’ Showcase schedule is below.  All 60 Minotauros regular season games including the four Showcase battles will be on

Wednesday, September 23rd – vs. Wichita Falls Wildcats 7:15 P.M.
