Skoog to BU

Minot, ND – The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that forward Wilmer Skoog has committed to play NCAA DI hockey at Boston University for next season.  Skoog becomes the Tauros 44th NCAA DI  commitment and 77th NCAA commitment overall.  Skoog posted 18 goals and 29 assists in his rookie season with the Tauros and added four points (2g 2a) in the Tauros 7 playoff games.  His 47 points in the regular season was third on the Tauros.

Skoog said he chose BU because it was “a great fit for me in every aspect; school, hockey, and location.”  Skoog, whom will be leaving Minot with a year of junior hockey eligibility remaining is still undecided as to what he will major in but is “interested in business or communication.”

Tauros’ Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray was understandably disappointed to lose Skoog a year earlier than planned but was excited to see the forward gain the opportunity; “I believe Wilmer will be a great addition to one of the best programs in the country, he possesses good size and high end skill; he plays with an edge and has the ability to get under the opposing teams skin.”

Skoog believed his year in Minot, his first in the States, was key to getting the opportunity at BU saying “I learned and experienced a lot of new things both on and off the ice.”  He also was quick to credit those who helped him last season, “all the players from the team and also the coaching staff and my billet family the Bosers.”
