Minot, ND – The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that defenseman Nick Strom has been named to the Central Division All-Rookie Team and the NAHL All-Rookie Second Team.  The first-year defenseman for the Tauros posted 32 points on four goals and 28 assists in the regular season and has added two more assists through four playoff games.  The NAHL Awards are voted on by the officials from each of the 24 NAHL teams.

Strom stepped into the lineup on day one and is one of just two Tauros along with David Raisanen to play in all 60 games this season.  His 14 power play assists led all Tauros this year. Tauros Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray praised Strom; “Even though Nick is a first year guy, he’s played a veteran type role for us this season.  His hockey IQ is very high, he has a great stick, and he has tremendous poise with the puck.  He’s played in all situations this season and is a guy you can count on every night.”

Tauros Assistant Coach Shane Wagner who works with the defenseman echoed Murray in his praise of Strom, “Nick Played in every situation and in every game, which is not easy for anyone let alone a rookie.”  Wagner continued “it’s a well-deserved award… with all the hard word he does before and after practice.”

Strom is joined on the All-Central Rookie team by forwards Aaron Myers (MNW), Stepan Pokorny (ABD), and Austin Jouppi (BIS), defenseman Pierson Brandon (ABD), and goaltender Kyle McClellan (AUS).  On the NAHL All-Rookie Second Team Strom is joined by forwards Pokorny, Santeri Hartikainen (CCI), Camden Thiesing (CHP), defenseman Jordan Strand (WBS), and goaltender Mattias Sholl (FAI).  Full NAHL All-Rookie Teams can be found here.
