Sweeping Success

Minot, ND – The Minotauros kept their hot start to the season going with a weekend sweep of the St. Cloud Norsemen this weekend.  The dual wins extend the Tauros streak to six games with at least a point to start the season, just one game behind the franchise record seven set last season.

On Friday night (box score) the Tauros jumped out to a 2-0 lead late in the first period on goals from Damon Zimmer and Jared Lambright.  The Norsemen came back to tie it however with a pair of power play goals first by Hunter Hanson late in the first and then by Jonny Meiers in the middle of the second.  Christian Kadolph restored the Tauro lead less than two minutes after Meiers goal but another power play marker for the Norsemen tied the game at 3-3.  Then, late in the second Kaiden Scott netted his second of the season to give the Tauros a 4-3 lead heading into the final period.  Despite the Norsemen pressing to tie the game the Tauros would add two empty net goals late in the third to skate out 6-3 winners.

Then on Saturday night (box score) the Tauros again jumped out to a 2-0 lead, this time in the second period.  Joey Moffatt scored his first as a Tauro on the power play 4:20 into the second and Joseph Harguindeguy added his fifth 1:50 later.  For Harguindeguy his fifth goal gave him eight points on the season tying him with Zimmer who assisted Moffatt goal for the team lead in points.  Scott scored his second of the weekend on a breakaway off of a feed from goalie Keenan Rancier to push the Tauro lead to 3-0.  Rancier’s shutout bid was ended late in the third when while on a 5-on-3 power play the Norsemen pulled their goalie for an extra attacker and scored on the resulting 6-on-3 attack.  Less than a minute later with the Norsemen net empty Carter Korpi scored to give the Tauros a 4-1 win.

Next up the Tauros take a weekend off and then head to St. Cloud the weekend of November 6th and 7th.
