Tauros 20 Questions: #24 Austin Martinsen

Sep 11, 2015

As the season approaches we will be giving you a chance to meet the new Tauros as well as learn a little more about the returning players by asking them 20 questions.  We will be going in number order; Yesterday we heard from Chase Springman and today we hear from Austin Martinsen. Come back tomorrow to meet Jake Dittel.  For links to all of the past Tauros 20 Questions look to the bottom of this page.

Forward Austin Martinsen is another tender of the Tauros who saw a little bit of action with the team last season.  He skated the final two regular season games of the year against Bismarck registering 3 shots and an even rating.  Prior to coming to Minot Martinsen played for Farmington High School in Minnesota where he posted 23 goals and 23 assists in 24 games as a senior.  The 1997 birth year forward would have been one of the larger Tauros last season but at 5’11” 185 lbs he is in the middle of the pack this season.  Already this preseason he has shown an ability to find holes in the opponent’s defense, including the goal he scored all alone in front of the Bismarck net on Wednesday night.

From the Coach’s Office: Austin got his feet wet last season with us, playing a couple of games as an affiliate player. Another early tender for us in 2015, Austin is a guy that can put the puck in the net. In two [tryout] camps and so far in [training] camp, he has shown a knack around the net. Austin's transition from high school hockey to junior is yet to be seen, but I think he's a guy who could really provide a scoring punch in his rookie season.  – Head Coach Marty Murray
