Minot, ND – As the 2016/17 NAHL season draws near we are giving Tauros fans a chance to meet all of the new members of the club as well as learn a little more about the returning Tauros. We will play 20 questions with a different Tauro every day from now until the NAHL Showcase going in number order, today we meet #6 Brock Montgomery.
Brock Montgomery joins the Tauros after being named Mr. Hockey in North Dakota for his play for Grand Forks Red River last season. He led all ND high school defensemen with 44 points on 8 goals and 36 assists in 27 games, which is two points more than former Tauros Captain Jon Lizotte had in his Senior season for Red River when he was also Mr. Hockey and a state champion. In total Montgomery posted 78 points in three seasons for Red River. Last season Montgomery also got his first taste of NAHL action playing two games as an Affiliate Player for the Bismarck Bobcats before deciding to sign a tender with the Tauros.
From the Coaches’ Office: Brock joins us coming off a stellar season at Red River HS where his team was crowned state champion and he earned almost every award under the sun, including Mr. Hockey in ND. Not an overly big player, but he makes up for it with his hockey IQ. He is positionally sound and is has very strong hockey instincts. Brock ability to skate should be a nice asset on our blue line. – Marty Murray
