Minot, ND – As the 2016/17 NAHL season draws near we are giving Tauros fans a chance to meet all of the new members of the club as well as learn a little more about the returning Tauros. We will play 20 questions with a different Tauro every day from now until the NAHL Showcase going in number order, today we catch up with veteran goaltender #31 Lucas Murray.
Murray spent the majority of last season splitting time with Jon Flakne before Flakne was traded for Gunner Rivers who took the starting job down the stretch. As a rookie Murray posted an .899 SV% and 2.63 GAA in 32 games; both numbers better than the .878 SV% and 3.28 GAA that last season’s NAHL Goaltender of the Year Hunter Shepard posted for Bismarck in his rookie year. The Tauros believe Murray has the tools to take a similar leap. In his final 8 starts of the season Murray went 6-1-1 with a 2.12 GAA and .923 SV% for the Tauros. If Murray continues his strong play from down the stretch last season he will be among the top goaltenders in the league.
From the Coaches’ Office: Lucas had a pretty solid rookie season for us last year. His numbers were very respectable and we are hoping the experience he gained last year will translate into good things this year. Throughout training camp, he has shown much more confidence than he did at times last year. I believe he can be a top end goalie in our league. – Marty Murray

What inspired you to start playing hockey: My dad played hockey and when I was young he got me started playing hockey.

Ideal pregame meal: Subway.
Any hockey superstitions: No superstitions.
Best hockey memory: Beating Grand Rapids my junior year of high school. Ask Alex Adams about that one.
Aside from people, what will you miss most from home: My dog.
Do you believe in ghosts or aliens: Aliens are probably real.
Favorite vacation spot: Lake Vermillion.
Least favorite word: Goal.
Favorite candy bar: Snickers.
