Tauros Add Fischer

Sep 21, 2022

Minot, ND – The Minot Minotauros bolstered their offense today adding free agent forward Braden Fischer.  Last season Fischer played for the Virden Oil Capitals where he posted 74 points in 52 games while earning MJHL Most Valuable Player honors.  Going into his 20-year-old season Fischer has 140 total junior games played between the MJHL and BCHL with 64 goals and 71 assists.

For his part Fischer said he chose Minot because, “I’ve heard so many good things about this place and I’m super excited to come down here and play.  Also, I know Colby Joseph from up North and he reached out.”

Tauros Head Coach and General Manager Cody Campbell is excited to add Fischer to a team that averaged 4.25 goals per game during the NAHL Showcase.  “Braden is an elite offensive player. He has a long history of scoring and we hope that continues in Minot. He is also an experienced junior hockey player that wore a letter on a very successful team last season and we look forward to Braden bringing that experience and leadership to our group”

In 52 games in the regular season for Virden Fischer posted 35 goals and 39 assists.  Fischer also brings postseason experience as he added 14 points in 10 playoff games on nine goals and five helpers last postseason for Virden.  Oil Capital Head Coach & General Manager Tyson Ramsey praised Fischer last season when Fischer was nominated for CJHL M.V.P., “Braden is an exceptionally talented player, and we see that day in and day out on the ice. He continues to want to get better and works so hard on the ice and in the gym. What people maybe don’t see is that he is an outstanding person and teammate.”

See Fischer and the rest of the Tauros take the ice on the Pepsi Rink at Maysa Arena this Friday and Saturday night when the North Iowa Bulls come to Minot for the Tauros Home Opening Weekend presented by Pearson Chiropractic.  Doors open both nights at 6:30 p.m. for 7:35 p.m. puck drops.  Tickets for both games are available here, or through the “Tickets” tab atop this page.
