It was another big weekend for former Tauro goaltenders at the college ranks and the NCAA DIII season kicked off meaning 18 more Tauros alum were in action. Merrick Madsen earned his first college win with a 25 save shutout of Dartmouth and followed it up with an 18 save effort in a win on Saturday. The other half of the Tauros 2013/14 goaltending tandem Brandon Wildung picked up his fifth win of the season stopping 39 of 40 in Mercyhurst's win over Ohio State. Atte Tolvanen, the goaltender who replaced that duo for the 2014/15 season, stopped 79 of 80 earning a win and a tie for Northern Michigan as they hosted Bemidji State.
At the NCAA DIII level former 10 Tauros alum registered a point during the season's opening weekend. Mike Mezzano's goal and three assists for St. Mary's University was the high mark for NCAA DIII Tauros on the weekend. Tim Donohue (Gustavus Adolphus), Steven Sherman (St. Olaf), and Kelvin Walz (St. Mary's); each had three points. Donohue and James Mathias each had game winning goals for Gustavus Adolphus College and Marian University respectively, you can see Mathias's first college goal here.
Lastly in the USHL John Snodgrass, who is second on Cedar Rapids with 9 points, had an assist in their win over Des Moines. For a full look at how Tauros are performing as they move up see their stats below.
