Tauros Support Operation Smile

Apr 28, 2014

The Minot Minotauros Coaching staff will be attending the 3rd Annual “Miles for Smiles” that is put on by the Minot State Communication Disorders Department. The Department at the University has their goal set to raise money to support 100 Cleft lip and palate surgeries in third world countries. Each surgery costs $240. Together, We Can Change Lives Operation Smile is a non-profit organization that mobilizes a world of generous hearts to heal children’s smiles and transform lives across the globe. Operation Smile’s network of volunteers works worldwide to repair childhood facial deformities including cleft lips and cleft palates.

"This year's walk will be a time for the Minot community to come together and celebrate the hard work everyone has put in to send Operation Smile funds for 133+ cleft lip and palate surgeries. Minot State University, as well as the community of Minot, has much to be proud of, and the walk will represent the dedication each and every person put forth to make our vision of raising 100 cleft palate surgeries, a reality,” commented Emily Gordon who is the founder and a Grad Student in Communication Disorders.

“This is an event that can change the lives of so many children around the world. Emily and the Communication Disorders department put a lot of work into setting this event up and they have done a fantastic job of it! We encourage Tauros fans and followers to come out and walk with the coaches and others to raise money for such a great cause. These types of events and the people that put them on shows just how great of City Minot is to be a part of!” stated Assistant Coach Nigel Dube.
