Team Orange takes All-Star Showdown

Aug 18, 2012

The Minot Minotauros concluded a successful Main Camp this morning, as Team Orange defeated Team Blue 6-4 in a back and forth battle at the Maysa Arena. Some of the standouts of the day included, for Team Orange forwards Wes Iverson and Joe Hall played with good energy throughout the game. Hall scored the game winner with about 90 seconds left in the third period. As Iverson scored on a bar-down snipe a few minutes before. Iverson scored two goals in the game, others to score for Team Orange where forwards Mason Morelli, Ryan Doner and Nick Turbitt.

Team Blue started the game strong, jumping out to a 2-0 lead after one period. Goals scored for Team Blue credited to Lucas Oliver and Justin Bonanno  Other standout players for Team Blue included forward Cam Rowat, who scored two goals in the game and defenseman Cody Longie who had a number of defensive break-ups and rushes up ice.

All three goalies saw significant time, all three as well showed a high level of compete and could prove to be possible starters. With no goalie in camp under six foot tall, it made life tough for players who were trying to pick corners. With completely new faces in camp, nobody has seemed to put a stranglehold on the position.

"All three goalies have shown the ability, that they can start and be relied on," says Tauros Goalie Coach Terry Dunbar. "There's nothing wrong with some healthy competition to see which one of these guys wants it worse."

Some of the reoccuring themes in camp seemed to be the parody with players and competition level. With similar types of players battling for similar roles. It made for tightly contested couple of days that rarely lacked intensity. Aside from the individual battles that tend to take up the majority of the conversation. Another obvious positive of the weekend was the pace of play and offensive skill level. Something that should make Tauro fans happy following a season that saw goal droughts over six periods long.

The Minotauros organization would like to thank all the athletes who tryed out and athlete's parents who support them. As well as the Maysa Arena staff and all our wonderful volunteers and billets who make camp's like these go. Also the fans, who continue to find new ways to follow and support Tauros hockey!

Tauros updated roster coming soon!
