Minot, ND – The Minotauros came into the weekend with a five point lead on the Austin Bruins for the top spot in the NAHL’s Central Division.  The cushion meant that regardless of what happened on the ice the Tauros would end the weekend remaining in the top spot, however a strong showing could have put the Tauros out to a nine point lead on the rest of the division.  Instead, the Tauros came out with their worst two efforts of the season and have allowed the Bruins to pull within a point.

The Tauros were out scored 7-1 over a two game sweep, including two power play goals and one shorthanded goal against.  In all the Tauros had to kill 14 penalties over the two game span while earning just nine power plays of their own.  Zack Bross had the Tauros loan goal, his second of the season, in the second period of Friday night’s 2- 1 loss.  Aside from Bross’s goal the loan bright spot for the Tauros was the play of Jon Flakne in net on Friday night.  By making 33 often highlight reel saves on 35 shots he kept the score from matching Saturday night’s blowout.

With Friday night off the Tauros have a long week to rediscover the magic from the nine game win streak that propelled them into first place before getting their first look at the Aberdeen Wings this Saturday.
