Aberdeen, S.D. – As the calendar turns to December, familiarity is on the horizon for the Minot Minotauros. After coming off a home series with the Aberdeen Wings last weekend that ended in a split, the team will hit the road to face the Wings in Aberdeen on Friday and Saturday, with a 7:15 p.m. puck drop on both nights. Coming off a very strong November that saw the Tauros reach a win streak of six games, the team will look to start a new streak after dropping the series finale against the Wings last Saturday.

After Minot utilized four different goal scorers in a win on Friday night, the Wings responded by giving the Tauros a dose of their own medicine by bringing the same firepower to the ice in a 4-1 win, which secured a split on Saturday night.

Even though the Tauros lost two of three games last weekend, they still hold the top spot in the Central Division with 33 points and a record of 16-5-1. In a slight shake up, the St. Cloud Norsemen took second place with 31 points (12-5-2 record) over the Austin Bruins who moved into third place with 27 points (13-8-1 record). The Wings enter the weekend occupying fifth place with 21 points and a record of 9-12-1.

Defenseman Colby Woogk continues to be a bright spot for the Tauros as of late, as Woogk scored two goals and an assist over the weekend. Jack O’Hanisain tallied three points as well on one goal and two assists, while Chad Muller scored his fifth goal of the season and Niklas Ketonen scored his sixth. In addition to the consistent scoring by the aforementioned players, a few firsts took place. The trio of Jordan Gibbs, Colby Bear, and Rylan Jockims tallied their first goal as a Minotauro.

With the hopes of getting back on track and finding their winning ways once again, the Tauros will have to do so in enemy territory for the time being. Following their trip to Aberdeen, the team is scheduled to head to Austin the next weekend before they return home to the Maysa for a series with the North Iowa Bulls beginning on Dec. 15.  The December 16th game will be the annual SCHEELS of Minot Teddy Bear Toss. Tickets for both games are available in the Tauros Hockey Mobile App through the “Tickets” tab atop this page or by visiting the Tauros ticketing site tickets.minotauroshockey.com.
