Weekend Preview 2-18-22

Feb 18, 2022

Minot, ND – The Minotauros return to the Maysa Arena for a weekend battle with the rival Aberdeen Wings.  The Tauros are 5-3-0 against the Wings this season including a split at the Maysa two weekends ago.  Despite the Tauros success against the Wings they remain two points behind the Wings in the standings entering the weekend and just one point ahead of North Iowa for the Central’s final playoff spot.

Braydon Beahm has played some of his best hockey against the Wings with six of his nine goals coming against Aberdeen.  Huston Karpman’s 12 points on two goals and 10 helpers leads the Tauros against the Wings.  On the other end of the spectrum Zach Sandy who has at least a .935 SV% against every other Central Division team has posted just a .887 SV% against the Wings this year.  Lassi Lehti stopped 56 of 62 shots against the Wings in his first weekend as a Tauro earning the aforementioned split.

The Wings meanwhile are led by Cade Neilson who with 55 points is third in the NAHL; 14 of those points have come against the Tauros.  Ronan Walsh has seven goal against the Tauros this year.  Like the Tauros the Wings looked south for reinforcements at the deadline adding Dominic Schimizzi from Amarillo, while scoreless in his first two games as a Wing he had nine goals and 11 assists in Texas this year.

The weekend set kicks off four games in a row against the Wings.  Friday’s game starts at 8:05 p.m. and Saturday’s at 7:35 p.m. as the Tauros look to jump the Wings in the standings.  Saturday night is skate with the Tauros as well as the Sports Shaq February Tauros trading card giveaway.  Tickets for both games are available through the “Tickets” tab atop this page or by clicking here.
