Weekend Preview 4-7-2023

Apr 7, 2023

Minot, ND – The Minotauros head into their final home weekend of the regular season in total control of their own playoff fate.  After sweeping the Aberdeen Wings last weekend the Tauros have moved back into fourth place in the Central Division and as such just need to match the performance of Aberdeen and sixth place Bismarck to remain ahead of them.

In a twist of scheduling the six members of the Central pair off for the final two weekends of the season; the Tauros with Austin, Aberdeen with St. Cloud, and finally North Iowa with Bismarck.  Each duo plays a series in each of their home cities starting in Minot, St. Cloud, and Mason City before flipping to their opponent’s barn for the final weekend of the season.

This weekend’s set for the Tauros provides them a chance to clinch a playoff spot should they sweep the Bruins along with Aberdeen being swept and the Bobcats losing at least one game.  Of course that task will not be easy for the Tauros who have gone just 1-5-2 against Austin through the first eight meetings.  The Tauros lone victory was a 3-2 win on January 27th in Minot.

As he has all season Chase LaPinta has led the Tauros offense with five goals against Austin thus far.  Meanwhile the Bruins attack has been led by Tauros’ goalie Lawton Zacher’s brother Walter who has seven goals and three helpers against the Tauros.

Aside from the importance of the game on the ice the Tauros will also be celebrating Fan Appreciation Weekend off of it (details below).  The Tauros will also be wearing their “Magic City” jerseys for the final time before they are retired, the game worn jerseys are currently being auctioned on the Tauros digital auction partner DASH with the auction ending during Saturday’s game and the winners being able to take their jerseys home after game.  Tickets for the weekend’s games can be purchased online through the ”Tickets” tab atop this page or at tickets.minotauroshockey.com.
